Male Supplement X-ROCK Recalled

A dietary supplement manufacturer recalled one of its products X-ROCK after the government detected unlisted ingredients that “pose a threat to consumers,” according to the company.

Food and Drug Administration tests showed that X-ROCK, a supplement marketed by X-ROCK Industries as enhancing sexual performance, contained two unlisted ingredients: sildenafil—an FDA-approved drug for erectile dysfunction—and a related chemical, hydroxythiohomosildenafil.

"These undeclared active ingredients pose a threat to consumers because sildenafil and hydroxythiohomosildenafil may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs (such as nitroglycerin) and lower blood pressure to dangerous levels," the company said in a statement on the FDA website.

Doctors commonly prescribe nitrates for conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease, all of which are risk factors for erectile dysfunction.

X-ROCK is marketed as “completely organic” on the company’s website, which says that the product is made with “potent natural ingredients, and without any of the chemicals or steroids that you find in some of the male enhancement drugs which need to be prescribed by a doctor.”

The company is advising customers to stop using the product immediately, and contact their physician if they have “experienced any problems that may be related to taking this product.”
