I admit it. The Condomania "Pick a Condom, Pick a President" campaign cracks me up. The fact that it adds nothing substantial to the conversation about politics and contraception is rather a shame, given the many inconsistent statements Romney has made on the topic, but hopefully it will at least encourage condom shoppers to think about the importance of contraception and sexual health in their lives. These issues may not be the only contributing factor to how someone votes, but they can be a powerful one.
That said, I think the political donkey and elephant condoms are rather dull, particularly when compared to the Obama condom I stumbled across a few years ago. However, the company that made those "Hope is not a condom" prophylactics does have a hysterical version for the current Romney campaign. They're advertised as "for people who like to switch positions" - just like the candidate himself.
Leave your own ideas for condom slogans in the comments!*
*In honor of my continuing desire to encourage people to practice safe oral sex, I'm personally trying to come up with something about "blow by blow coverage on erection night"...
