According to news reports, voters in Los Angeles county are looking to extend the requirement that adult film actors use condoms from merely the city of Los Angeles to the whole county. Although some people argue that porn containing safer sex may be less exciting for viewers, and that production will simply move to areas where condoms aren't required, I applaud the desire of the community to protect the performers of the adult film industry. Simply requiring testing isn't enough to keep performers safe. Condoms may not be able to prevent everything, but they are extremely effective at preventing sexual transmission of HIV.
